Translated from Tolkien's original (English version) on March 14th, 2006.

Because I wanted to match the English version's syllable count and meter, new word orders had to be allowed in Asha'ille. Below you will find not only the standard VSO (only occurring once here, in the second half of line 8), but also OSV (lines 1, 2, 3, and 4) and SVO (lines 6, 7, and the first half of line 8), as well as multiple adverbial phrases preceding the verb (lines 5 and 9).

[0] The One Ring

As far as I could tell, Tolkien's poem is an excerpt from a larger piece, and as such does not have a title of its own. I've called it "The One Ring," as most people seem to refer to it by something similar.

N'aeg hajhem, Aijh 'nllim vesaer'sún, alv.

ne aeg hajhe -im Aijhye -ith inlli -im vesaer esún alv

mi adj n pl prop adj n pl adv n v
OBJ: three ring PL Aijhye ADJ wise person PL under sky give to
Three Rings for Elven-kings under the sky.

Of interest in this and the following four lines is unusual word order, especially considering how strictly VSO Asha'ille often is. The unmarked VSO order of this sentence would be Alv Aijh 'nllim n'aeg hajhem (egik) vesaer'sún., with the verb alv being inherently passive. (See the alv entry in the dictionary for further examples of its usage.)

Throughout the rest of the poem, I have included comparison of meter between the Asha'ille and English versions. They should match in all cases, unless I misinterpretted the meter of the English.
