Jeffrey Jones ran Relay 16 in fall of 2008. The starting text was written in Ithkuil by John Quijada. Sylvia Sotomayor translated from that Ithkuil text into Kēlen — a verbless language — then passed her text on to me.

The Asha'ille text has been updated to reflect the spelling reform that occurred after the relay.

Background

The native speakers of Asha'ille, the Cresaeans, are an empathic species. Because they are empathic, Cresaeans can directly experience how their actions affect others. Their culture teaches that one should feel a certain compassionate responsibility toward others: enalnhya.

Furthermore, Cresaeans aren't religious in a Judeo-Christian sense. Because this relay text was talking mostly about the moral aspects of religion, I translated it as that concept instead.
